MALAGA

Begin April weer richting Nederland!
English summary
After leaving Zaragoza we headed for Albarracin, in the southeast of mountainous Aragon. This small "Musulman" town is well preserved and once was an important frontier city in the fight against Christianity.
Valencia, one of Spain's biggest cities, was interesting. We liked the recently constructed area of "Ciudad des Artes y de las Ciencias", a wide range of modern architecture. The musea and bridges, in the midst of surrounding parks and artificial lakes, were quite impressive. But the surrounding area was, seen through our bikers'eyes, rather disappointing (lot of traffic, uninteresting inland landscape.)
Since december 23 we have rent a three bedroom/two bathroom apartment in the old, historic centre of Malaga/Andalusia. Although the hot water supply - a 14 gallon boiler - doesn't match our standards, we are almost sold out! After mid February completely booked till the end of March!
We do enjoy life in Malaga, a very Spanish city with comparably few tourists around. Weather in Spain is rather bad: too cold, in the northwest too much "winter" and in Andalusia it hasn't been that cold since 28 years. But with daily temperatures between 14-17C, most of the time sunny and hardly any rain, and down to 5C at night we feel pretty comfortable!
Angela is taking Spanish lessons again, 4 hours a day, 5 days a week! Hard to believe but almost a full time job; anyway, she likes to be busy and learn more about the language.
We made a short visit to Seville: great to be back! Of course Seville as a city has far more to offer to tourists than Malaga: many monuments from ancient times, specially the last century of Arabic rule and later the glory of worldpower Spain.
Malaga's downtown area is much smaller, not that many monuments but still very busy and attractive for shopping. And... the beach just on a few minutes walk! The coast and the inland scenery of mountains up to 6,000 feet do make the positive difference
to stay overhere this winter.
Beginning April we intend to return to the Netherlands.

Hello Angela!
I found your site and read some entries, wow how interesting! Though I must say I only read the english parts and have a look at the pictures since it is a bit difficult for me to understand the dutch ones. ;-)
Greetings from Germany
Verena
